Founding The Intractable Studies Institute was founded on June 5, 2013 by Patrick M. Rael as a means to allow him to focus without distraction on solving intractably hard challenges, something up until that founding he did on his own time. Patrick enjoys a real good technical challenge. The Institute enables him to work on these challenges in a formal setting instead of his own time. Independent The Intractable Studies Institute is an independent research institute. We are not affiliated with any external entity. This gives us the flexibility to have maximum creativity which is necessary when working on challenges that are intractably hard.		Location The Institute currently has no public offices, just a home office. The Intractable Studies Institute is designed to be address-mobile. Although the headquarters are in Peralta, NM (18 miles south of Albuquerque in the lower Rio Grande Valley), the Institute grounds are designed to be mobile such that a sponsor can house the Institute Labs at a remote location different from the Intractable Studies Institute HQ. Depending on the challenge(s) being worked on, different labs may be necessary for working on experiments. For example, for Tsunami work the client may desire to bring the Institute grounds nearer to the problem area, or alternatively can simply bring the Intractable Studies Institute worker over without the grounds. Flexible options are available, almost any rational method can probably be worked out.
	Doing Business With Us If you have an intractably hard challenge that you would like us to provide a solution for, that challenge will have to meet the following criteria before we will look at it: o - Nobody else can solve it, or the known solutions are inadequate. o - aka, if you can find someone to solve it, we won't work on it. o - When all else fails, come to the institute. o - eg; How to stop a Tsunami wave. o - eg; A solution to world hunger is a good challenge. o - eg; What is Dark Matter in astro-physics. o - eg; How to disrupt a tornado on the ground. o - eg; How to rapidly extinguish any-size forest/range fire. The Intractable Studies Institute's Dunn & Bradstreet DUNS number is 051353591. We work on a contract-basis. We will identify in the contract whether the solution we provide will be proven or theoretical. Currently all our solutions are theoretical. The Institute is designed to provide theoretical solutions, that's exactly how we prefer to work. We are not cheap, you will pay a premium for our services, this will be explicit in the contract we agree on. You might be surprised by how expensive we are, but to that we reply "If you can find someone else who can solve it, hire them". That's why we don't work on anything that others have solved or can solve. For solutions we have already published, we are available to consult on those. eg; let's say you are an Pacific Rim nation with Tsunami danger. You've already read our Communication for how to stop a Tsunami wave. But maybe you can't figure something out. At the Institute, we believe our Tsunami solution Communication has enough detail for others to implement, but if you still need help, hire us to consult on this solution.
